Ceramics

In class, we created a ceramic pot with clay. First we got a slab of clay and rolled it out on the slab roller. We cut out templates and cut our clay to make a design. We then placed our clay over real bowls to get the round shape. After letting our clay rest, we carved it and shaped it. The next day we painted it with wet red clay. Later, we put it into the kiln to harden and turn into greenware. I like my bowl because it looks organic on the end (with small dots that I poked through). I also like that it is simple and not too dramatic. If I were to change one thing about my bowl, I would add a little bit more detail on the inside around the circle. Overall, I enjoyed making the bowl and I love the outcome!

Pastel Still Life

In art class, we created still life pictures using pastels. Our assignment was to draw what we saw in front of us on the table. I think that this project was very successful. I loved the outcome and thought that the objects that I drew had good proportion and it looked neat. I included highlights and shades in the objects to make them look realistic. One thing I would change about this picture is to fix the white stand/table to make it look like it gets smaller in the distance. Overall, I love my project and enjoyed drawing the objects and adding detail to them. This project was so much fun and I loved creating a still life drawing!
